Millions of blue collar jobs are available, but nobody is trained to do them. So, in regards to the US, is it class warfare or lack of education? This might be a tough argument for lefties to counter. I side with people on here, generally. But you gotta admit the "work skills" thing has strong points.

Finally, how does this idea apply to other nations. Is lack of training a major factor in thier unemployment situation?

Why can't it be both? Sub-par education leaves the workers with fewer intellectual defences, making them easier to manipulate.

Not in the UK, where there are more applicants than job openings. I suspect the same is true of the US, actually.

A couple of decades ago, we went from "Every child should have the opportunity to have a college education" to "Every child should be encouraged to go to college". This led to a huge cut in funding to trade schools, with, oddly enough, no corresponding increase to non-trade schools.

It depends on what skills you're talking about. I know up here to work in the factories or warehouses they want you to have one year of warehouse or industrial experience. Virtually every warehouse/factory job requires it. Which means it's difficult to ever get one of these jobs because people just coming into the workforce probably don't have that experience and have no chance to get it.

I know I was totally locked out of anything except fast food and retail for the longest time until I learned to just lie on applications.
