I just purchased a copy of David Schweickart's Against Capitalism.

Would you guys recommend the book? I want to get back to the basics and understand the philosophical arguments against capitalism.

I want to couple the book with a close read of Paul Sweezy's The Theory of Capitalist Development. Is this a good read too?

Basically I want something that is easy to read and has no equations, lol. I bought Richard Wolfe's book on Neo-Classical Economics vs Marxism and it was WAY too filled with equations and graphs. Just wasn't feeling it as of yet.

I have also a copy of libertarian right winger Thomas Sowell's Marxism. Supposedly it's an unbias look at Marxism but I bet the end chapter will be utterly anti-Marxist.

Wait. You purchased the book, and now you're asking for recommendations? Seems like you have your priorities a bit mixed up, but unfortunately I've never heard of the book so I can't comment on it.

Well you should probably read it and tell us what you think now that you've bought it.

I do that a lot too.

I haven't read that too, but if you're looking to supplements to Capital I recommend you check out the Historical Materialism book series; they have a lot of good theoretical discourse.

Magazines, online journals, anything.

Sowell claims to have been a Marxist in the past.

He isn't that good of an economist. He talks about Capital like a bible.

Sowell claims to have been a Marxist in the past.

....and now he is the darling of the right libertarian intellectual movement.

But supposedly his book on Marxism is "unbiased"
