Wow, very violent. All because somebody insulted their faith.
Dressing up as topless nuns may be a cruddy act, but it's free speech. Just because Catholics find it offensive to depict topless nuns doesn't mean all faiths find it offensive.
I don't want to generalize, because not all Catholics are like this. There are some good Catholics, probably millions of them, although Catholics have been responsible for lots of violence and even genocide on many occasions.
The moderate Catholics need to speak out against the extremists.
Moderate Catholics in France, isn't it time you put your house in order?

I agree. This also seems to be a tactical mistake on the part of the "nuns". They don't deserve to be harassed and beaten of course, but it seems counter-productive to frame an issue like LGBT marginalization and gay marriage as the focal point of some kind of culture war/identity conflict. Topless nuns are not the way to advocate (at least in this scenario; never say never when it comes to organizing I suppose).

It seems kind of silly to say that, "Our position is totally reasonable and sympathetic, and no rational person should oppose this, and to make that point, we're going to be intentionally flashy, edgy and shocking."
I think there's a point where street theater begins to be a little self-defeating.

Apparently some of the women suffered actual injuries. Broken noses and a lost tooth. Saw a picture of one of them still standing around with their broken nose, looking all topless and defiant as shit so fair play to them for thuggin it out like that.
Also I think you missed the joke in Comrade Marxist Bro's post

It wasn't all free speech though. They, very hilariously I might add, sprayed some white shit and called it jesus cum.

I do wonder, who is more annoying - Catholics or Femen? Femen, of course, has the advantage of counting among its ranks women with wonderful breasts who don't shy from exposing them all the time. Hmm, breasts or Bible-lunatics? Hard choice, comrades!

Actually, I'd rather that they choose to stop being Catholics, and stop supporting (through the collection plate) a massively corrupt institution that has actively protected abusive pieces of shit.
But hey, why bother looking at the facts when folk like you can ignore them in favour of facile comparisons? Do you regularly hear of people being targeted by airport security for "looking Catholic"?

No, I don't hear of people being targeted by airport security for looking Catholic, though I'm quite sure that Arab Catholics are targeted for "looking Muslim."
I think you didn't get the joke.

In that case, I believe I've misunderstood you.

I'm honesly in two minds about this. Since France is a Catholic majority country, it's risque, but it could make a positive impact, but I'm uncomfortable with others doing it. Could you really blame a Catholic (progressive or reactionary) for feeling deeply insulted by this?
