hey guys i'm in community college and the teacher told us to write a journal about something and how it relates to sociology, which I thought was unclear, so I was hoping for some help. The topic that I chose is the Israeli conflict and how things in the past few months have led up to it.

If it's for a sociology class, I'm assuming that they're going for some kind of structural analysis in terms of the power dynamic between Israel and Palestine. Off the top of my head, I might do it in three parts.

The first part could be a somewhat brief introduction to the origins of the conflict, with England and the United States backing the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine, and correlating the process and first incidences of violence with broader colonial projects that had taken place in the US with Native Americans, in Africa, in Southeast Asia, etc. This way you establish the narrative that these lines and divisions were structurally formed in the interests of a global elite.

The second part could be the bulk of the paper, where you look over varied sources for how this bombing was initiated (the shooting along the boarder), the sequence of attacks, the civilian safety infrastructure of each country, the reasons for the disparity in power and preparedness, etc. Tie it all back to the colonial structure; how the US benefits from supplying Israel, how the Israeli state pays for expansion projects, etc.

Then the last part can be an internal look at the class structures of Israel and Palestine. Both sets of leadership can be critiqued and deconstructed from a class perspective, and you can tie that back into the rest of the paper.

Hope that helps. Not sure if it fits in with the assignment, but from what you describe, that's what I would have put forth in my own sociology classes.
