I'm going back to college soon and I've just now realized that the internet (along with beginning to read in Spanish) has ruined my mastery of English grammar. Post here to mercilessly crush my lack of semantics, punctuation and my all around lack of writing skills.

..damn you, I was so up for this but that paragraph seems fine. The only thing I'd have done differently is replace the '( )' with commas -

You could throw in an Oxford comma after punctuation, I suppose.

I'm not really good at grammar, though, sorry.

I distrust computer simulations because i believe that they cannot accurately utilize chaos theory and the butterfly effect. I also think that not everything in physics et al. has been discovered yet and that any computer simulation would not take these allusive bedrocks of existence into consideration. Finally, computers can't take into account the random epiphanys/lunacies that have shaped the world history.

remember: don't analyze it, just critique it grammorally !

allusive should be elusive
The plural of epiphany is epiphanies.
It would sound better if you said either "the world's history" or "world history" rather than "the world history".

I agree with the last poster. Also the part in bold should read 'no computer simulation can take'.

Here's a secret. There will always be assholes. Greed cannot be wholly eradicated from the human experience. Some people will always take the low road for quick profits and pleasure and some will always vent their frustrations and mental imbalances upon their surroundings. Unless we mass medicate the populace with Super Soma, vice, corruption and abuse will always attempt to thrive like a weed in a garden. You'll always need a gardener, and due to that society will always need a form of law enforcement.

fix please

^i would advise you not to use 'and' twice in one sentence or after a comma. of course professional writers do both of those things all the time, but that's the sort of thing i got drilled into me at school.

Depending on your audience, I would be careful about the word "asshole". (I don't really know who this is intended for, but make sure it's not someone who might get offended or want more elevated language.) You might want to play around with the sentence involving Super Soma because the comma after that phrase with a list immediately following it almost makes it seem like Super Soma is part of the list of "vice, corruption and abuse (and that the populace can be medicated with those three other things.) Also, probably put a comma after the word "that" in your last sentence. I'm not sure if it is grammatically necessary, but would help make the sentence a little more comprehensible (making sure it's clear that the word "that" is not modifying the word society.)

I don't get that line of thinking. If he wants to hear a lecture he could go to youtube, if he wants to discuss he can come here and if he wants a reading list he can go to a variety of leftist online libraries.
