I have a stretch of time, about two or two and a half months, to do something (I have obligations in the spring). I feel like if I stay where I'm at, I'll be wasting my time. But that amount of time seems too long to go on vacation, but too short to be able to move somewhere and put roots down, make friends, find employment etc. What should I do?

Write something cool, music or literature.
Find some shitty job if necessary.

Read Capital nonstop... write a book... take a week and blow a bunch of money at a world class resort in some vacation spot?

Just masturbate. Or lurk around in and post on rev left. Or any other such productive activity.

Depends on where you live, country-wise.

I don't know. You could volunteer somewhere, you could travel (assuming you have the cash), you could wait tables or get a temp job, you could couch surf, stay in hostels, go backpacking. Or do just about whatever you want. Play World of Warcraft. Read Plato. Listen to Mozart. Work out. Go to bed early, wake up and watch the sunrise. Go to town, buy a cup of coffee, sit and watch the people go to work. Give food to a homeless person. Prepare a simple meal, and give thanks for it. Call your mother. Call your grandmother. Go to the Senior Citizen's Center and visit someone you don't know. Buy a newspaper, take it to the park, and read it there. Write a short story. Read a novel. Eat a peach.

I enjoy going on vacation but when I do that I spend quite a bit of cash and I don't think I have enough income to sustain me for the amount of time I need to kill.
I was thinking about re-locating to the United States proper (I live in Alaska), but my car wouldn't be there so I don't know how I'd get around, or even what I'd do, etc.
Eh. I'll figure it out eventually.

Yeah, and then publish my poems on this board! Great idea Mari3l! ;)
(Just kidding, I would never torture the posters on this board in such a cruel way.)

I sent a user on here one of my poems once and they were like 'oh yeah i'll get back to you thanks so much' and not only did they never get back to me they stopped posting entirely.

Everyone is approaching this question the wrong way. You don't need to physically take a trip, but mentally. Drop acid for two and a half months man.

Use the two months to get some shit job and then save up for when you do move. That way you'll be more secure and have a more comfortable life later. If you can't get a job, scrounge benefits like a boss (or, in fact, the opposite) and read some stuff you never would have read, watch some film you never would have watched, shag someone you never would have shagged, write something you never would have written etc.
o well this is ok I guess

Live like a crusty and hop freight.
You can vacation in the nearest town.
