after reading redstars post, in a previous thread of mine it reminded me
the bible is not only a book that sets the moral standard and brakes them all too
but the way it has been modernised into english has ruined alot of the faith
Miseo greek for hate, also greek for "to care less for" which is its intended puporose in the sentence "miseo thine enemy" unfortunately the english version uses "love your enemy"
now love your enenmy or care less for him which would you choose
if you find any please post them below

I don't think that proves it as false, it proves it as misinterpretted.

Echo the last post.
Plus if you mean because of misinterpetation the Bible is false then all Plato is false surely.

i don't think that the misinterpretations make it any less true than the believers, i think it just shakes the foundation of the ppl that read it plain and straight as a factual account
the way i see it, the bible is just a good book about a nice guy with special powers, kinda like a long novel version of spider-man, i know that sounds ridiculous, but thats the way ive looked at it now for like 5 years

You know I think that the Bible is a collection of the first encounters with Aliens,I got the idea from the History Channel on their documentary of the Bible.

The Bible has many contradictions. It was written by different people, and then re-written several times.

Because it is based on the non-exist Christen "god", operative word(s) "non-exist".. that is to say, in all manners possible.

that wasn't the point, if you read the bible it has lost its intended meaning through multi transalation and simplification for people too lazy to learn latin,
the non existance is irelevant as you can't proove it, just as you can't unanamously proove evolution or aliens or who shot jfk.
in order to remove the plague of christianity you need to invalidate it.
ever heard a christian say "to question god is unthinkable". DO as i say not as i do is how they think of god.
becuase i say so is not the answer when arguing something you weren't there to witness

Have you read any Zecharia Setichin? I've goten 270 or so pages in to 'the 12th Planet' before giving up on it. I like the myths and all, but.. well its just as ridiculous as a literal reading of the bible.

the bible; if a person whispers something to another, and he whispers it to yet another, the final result of the words are bound to be altered...

thats not really true with most modern forms of christianity, ive been forced thru catholic school my whole life and most of the religion classes ive taken call for a good christian to question the existence and validity of God. ive noticed this in a few other sects of christianity of my friends. the religion has grown from the old days and is less afraid of losing members with a fake belief as long as there is a greater security feeling in those that stay.

thats exactly right saint, it was just one really long game of telephone

gawkygeek thats wrong,
if you can question the validity of god why the bloody hell did he order the rape of davids mistresses in the book of samuel
when ever i asked it it was fucking ignored and some stupid comment like you not supposed to question the creator,
the sects of the religion exist purely becuase the couldn't agree on which lies to spread and which lies to hide.
most modern forms "haha" of christianity, it isn't even classed as the same thing anymore?? ?

Have you guys ever heard about the story of the guy who caught a 3 foot fish. He then proceeds to tell his friends that the fish was 5 feet long. They in turn tell their friends that the fish was infact 7 feet long...etc, etc. What i'm trying to say is, aslong as there have been humans, there have been lies, exaggerations, misintepratation, etc. which leads me to say that the bible was written down many, many, many yeas after JC(or whoever he was...) was long and gone and therefore the truth could have been lied about, exaggerated, misintepreted, etc. and therefore could make the bible completly worthless. It was also written by alot of different people with different biases, and different opinons which essentially means that storys could be way different then they actually were. That is why I do not take the Bible seriously, personally I think it is a joke and reinforces the fact that the people of the world are ignorant slobs that don't think twice about what they believe in or what they've been tought...

Yeah, I tend to agree with LiquidX, we've found many justifications for many of the things said in the bible but they appear to just be huge exagerations made up by people over time. It took nearly 300 hundred years for the Bible to be cannonized, so that means the original text and message was very likely diluted. More diluted then the religion has become in the nearly 2000 years after cannonizing it.

It's just dumb to think that JC was a man that did what the bible says he did. Personally I think he was a real person, but he didnt make miracles happen. I guess we could compare him to mother Theresa, nobody ever had anything bad to say about her and she dedicated her life to help others (seem familiar?).
I think that JC was just a really good guy who got blown way out of proportion and that got alot more credit than he deserved.

......or......he never existed at all, because really,
there's no more proof either way.

Yah there are alot of contradictions in the bible, personally though I dont make a big deal out of it. Im just giving my opinion, quite frankly if someone is so blind that they think the bible can actualy be fruitful...well I just wont waste my time. If someone disagrees thats fine but dont be so biased, do a little reaserch, do some homework and then come to me with the bibles relevance...blah.

what in the fuck is that statement supposed to mean? the bible is "wrong"?
like do you mean evil, or do you mean incorrect?
or do you mean neither of these and are just unable to make any fucking sense at all?

Take into mind that it was written a few hundred years after the death Jesus...Just think of how twisted the story could have, and probably did get.
The 7 plagues were bogus, they happened, but were natural occurences...the river turned red from dead fish that died from a bacteria caused by the frogs or whatever. They all have scientific explainations, as does the rest of the bible.
Science prevails

The Old Testament is false because it, frankly, doesn't make sense.
It contradicts the world and contradicts itself.
The New Tesament is false because of the above reason and because Jesus never existed.
