What is this about?
It's a newsreel series Dziga Vertov created at the beginning of the revolution. He continued with it for three years, then started Kino-Pravda (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kino-Pravda).
For those who are unfamiliar with Vertov's work, check out his groundbreaking film (one of the best Soviet films ever made, in my opinion), Man with a Movie Camera:
