fsa's story to reuters journo: Clashes with Kurds
Clashes with Kurds
Fighting was reported in the city of Aleppo, Syria's industrial and commercial hub. Rebels attacked several road blocks manned by Assad's loyalists and a 20-year-old girl was killed in army bombardment on Suleiman al-Halabi neighborhood, opposition activists said.

Rebel attempts to portray themselves as a united alternative to Assad suffered a setback when clashes broke out on Saturday in Ashrafieh, a Kurdish district of Aleppo that had up to now stayed out of the fighting. Armed clashes broke out between opposition fighters and members of the Syrian branch of the Kurdish Workers Party, or PKK.

Mouhaimen al-Rumaid, coordinator for the opposition Syrian Rebel Front, said the fighting erupted when PKK fighters helped Assad's forces defend a security compound in Ashrafieh that came under rebel attack.

Rumaid said scores of people were killed and rebels seized dozens of PKK members.

"The Ashrafieh incident has to be contained because it could extend to other areas in the northeast where the PKK is well organized," he said .

It makes me laugh how the media call those thugs "opposition activists". This is something I also noticed when the imperialist leeches attacked Libya to protect "protesters". If they were communist guerrillas they would be listed a terrorist organisation.

I don't know about the context this video is presented in. The Kurdish own news, at least the ones sympathetic to the PYD and PKK, says something different happened that day-

Fifteen people died and more than fifteen others were injured in Syrian army shelling in in the city of Aleppo on Thursday.

Early Thursday morning, a group affiliated to Free Syrian Army attempted to enter the densely Kurdish populated Eşrefiye Neighborhood. After the group was prevented from the area by YPG (People’s Defence Units) and Public Peace forces, the neighborhood was in the afternoon targeted by a bombardment of the Syrian army. Five howitzers were dropped on the neighborhood in the attack in which eight Kurds, one Turkman, three Arabs and three others lost their lives and over 15 people, including ANF reporter Cudî Ronahî and Ronahi Tv reporter Kendal Welat, suffered injuries.

The Syrian army attacks on Kurds have increased in the month of October in which 30 people were killed in the attacks of the Syrian military.

Fifteen people were killed and nineteen others were injured in four separate attacks of the Syrian army in October. Three of these attacks targeted passenger buses travelling from the west Kurdistan city of Afrin to Aleppo.

The biggest attack against Kurds in Aleppo was carried out on 6 September when 20 people lost their lives and 54 others were injured.

Around 600 thousand Kurds live in the Kurdish neighborhoods of Sheikh Maksoud and Eşrefiye in Syria’s second largest city Aleppo. Security in both neighborhoods is ensured by West Kurdistan People’s Defence Units (YPG) forces.

After the attack, the Syrian army declared ceasefire on the occasion of the muslim feast of sacrifice. The ceasefire will come into effect on Friday morning and continue till 29 October Monday.

ANF / ALEPPOSeems from that they're stuck in between Assad and FSA movements in the Efrin area where they are concentrated near Aleppo. Only things I'm reading about a conflict between the PYD and the rebels was a direct conflict, as described here:

Syrian Kurdish Journalist, Omit Ozturk version of events now appear to be corroborated by multiple sources, including "western journalists" (for those who desperately need that affirmation):[Z

"Perhaps I can try to tidy up and recap the series of events that reportedly took place in Kurdish districts of Aleppo in the last few days. Here is what I heard from sources close to the YPG (People's Defence Units):

On Thursday (25 October) an armed group who appeared to be from the FSA wants to get into the Ashrafieh but they are stopped by the civilian protesters and the YPG fighters. Shortly after that, the Syrian Army shells Ashrafiah which claims 15 civilian lives with many more wounded.

The following day, Friday 26 October, when the residents are busy with funeral arrangements, some FSA fighters are reported to have entered in the neighbourhood. Residents form a delegation to go and ask the FSA forces to withdraw from the streets of Ashrafiah. On their way to meet the FSA, the delegation receives a message that the FSA “has now liberated Ashrafiah.” Local residents take to the streets to protest this news but the FSA forces fire at the civilians, killing 5 and injuring 10 demonstrators. YPG fighters retaliate and kill 19 FSA fighters and injure a number of them, confiscate weapons, vehicles and a cache of ammunition from the FSA.

I also heard that the YPG has now formed a special unit called “Sheikh Maqsoud Martyrs Brigade” and that the brigade will be in charge of defending both the Ashrafiah and Sheikh Maqsoud neighbourhoods.

As for the balance of power across Aleppo, I am told that most parts of the city is still under the control of Syrian Army.

I was able to verify the facts and figures about 25 and 26 October in Ashrafiah, but am not able yet to verify/cross-check the balance of power in the whole of Aleppo."

VIDEO: For further corroboration, please check out this video that shows Kurds in the area protesting peacefully against the false news of an FSA takeover, only to have FSA snipers open fire on them. (Umit actually makes reference to this incident above):

Mohammed Haddad; the reported shelling was not on Ashrafiyeh but on Bani Zaid, because the FSA has set up mortars and fired on civilian residential neighborhoods that thursday. for the rest of the story it is true from what I see here in Aleppo. this whole stunt was pulled by the FSA terrorists to enter new areas because they lost a lot of ground in the eastern quarters, and can no longer advance anywhere else.
Oh thank god! If a white person doesn't confirm the storey for me it must be made up lol jk.
I'm not surprised they're using the 'PKK did it' excuse given their alliance with tthe Turkish government.

FSA opened fire on peaceful demonstrators?

Just goes to show their intentions if they take power. No wonder why they're losing support from Syria's minorities and getting less sympathy from the outside world. The West and it's neo-imperialism.

Sadly the Kurds will probably have a hard time finding peace.
