just got back from seeing 'em on a friend's recommendation. they're pretty good -- sorta shoegazey, cocteau twins dream pop stuff. any fans?

I'm a fan. I listened to them by accident, I was actually looking for Best Coast but I liked what I heard.

I like Best Coast better, but yeah pretty nice band.

Glad I came across it, defienetely a clear influence from the Cocteau Twins. The Weeknd is actually into a lot of post-punk and gothic rock.

The first shins record is the only one I've heard and it's good
Not many rock albums that have come out after 2007 have impressed me.
Nobody wants to do anything new it seems, just play a specific genre with already established rules.

Funnily enough I went to see Beach House on Monday. I thought they'd be pretty weak live but it was wonderful. Bloom is my favourite record of the year, and it's on double gatefold 12" too!
My favourite song is actually from Devotion though:
