ACAB. This strikes kinda close to home for me as someone who has dealt with suicidal thoughts. My parents probably would of done the same thing in that situation.
This world is so fucked and no one cares. :crying:

Lisa Messina called the cops in desperation, hoping an officer would come talk to him. But what arrived was an army of deputies, an armored tank and a sniper.
What the hell did they need a fucking tank for?

They are the kind of people who would use a sledgehammer to crack a nut, what else would you expect?

Wow. That is ridiculous. I can't comprehend that they responded in such a way to a suicidal teen. Why did they bring out so many officers and so much equipment? I find it hard to believe that any more than a few officers and a negotiator or two was even necessary. Not to mention a fucking tank and a marksman!

A number of stories have been coming out of the States.
Is it really that bad? Or is this just corporate media focusing on the violence and deterioration?

Well, from Germany it looks to me like the US society is in chaos. When i was a kid in second grade, i remember making a circle with my classmates and having a silent minute for students killed at a school shooting in the US. Now every week there are shootings of some kind. A sign of an increasingly brutal and alienating society i think.

Having been with a friend in a similar situation (which didn't end fatally, they just shot him in the hip) this hits kind of close to home. So yeah, never call the cops.

Policemen in socialist countries would kill teens too but kill the in the name of "society" and not in the "altar of profit". Words just change. I do not think that socialism deems every life sacred. Rather the opposite is true.

Yeah, we deem the lives of child-murdering cops on a power trip to be quite un-sacred.

The USA has always been a violent nation, but violent crime has been (generally) trending downward over the past few decades.
Not sure if that's entirely a good thing, though, as it could indicate a more pacified society.

It really is that bad. With mental illness the way the law works is that you are declared a danger to yourself and others with no need of a trail or even seeing a judge. All that is needed is 2 psychs to sign off on it and then the cops can do whatever they want with no warrant. All the cops need is a phone call by anyone and then that is it they have full discretion with how they deal with the situation. I know this from personal experience, as well as the stories of others.
I am working on a legal action about my own situation right now and I do not expect a favorable response by the courts, although I know that unless I try that first any real action will not be possible.
