A lawmaker for Greece's neo-Nazi Golden Dawn Party has reportedly read out in parliament a passage from the anti-Semitic forgery The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
Ilias Kasidiaris, a spokesperson for Golden Dawn, read out Protocol 19 from the book: "In order to destroy the prestige of heroism we shall send them for trial in the category of theft, murder and every kind of abominable and filthy crime," according to Panayote Dimitras of the Greek Helsinki Monitor.

I actually saw that book here in a bookstore and was disgusted that it was even still printed. I mean, it has been proven a hoax time and time again. How any publisher has the cheek to print it is beyond me.

EU gets a Nobel Prize while neo-fascists read Protocols of the Elders of Zion in a parliament session of a EU state.

I remember seeing late-night commercials with the Protocols and other books on Reptilians and such. That was on national TV too.

...and as the article itself says, “There was absolutely no reaction” to this in parliament, Dimitras said, which, makes “all parties held as accomplices.” Doesn't come as any surprise, mind you. Didn't SYRIZA-leader Alexis Tsipras make a point of seeking out the public support of self-declared antisemite Míkis Theodorakis a few months back? Considering the last three years in particular have seen a drastic upsurge in antisemitic attacks across the country, I don't think any element of the so-called Left should be cavorting with anybody who lays the blame for global financial situation squarely at the feet of the Jews. And don't even get me started on KKE, who seem to spend more time getting offended at the suggestion that there is a serious problem with antisemitism in Greece (including in their own ranks) than they do getting offended at the blatant expressions thereof...
Let's just say that - as ed has pointed out - we shouldn't be acting like this is a fascist 'thing' or a Golden Dawn 'thing.' Antisemitism is endemic across Greek society, from the top to the bottom, and across the political spectrum. Just take a look at the distinctly underwhelming reaction to the Konstantinos Plevris aquittal, for example, even from the various leftish groups. Which reminds me: we didn't really need this event to tell us how rampant antisemitism was in the Greek parliament; anybody who wants to play government in a state structure which can say with a straight face that somebody like Plevris can openly call for the slaughter of Jews without being a racist, as long as they "[do] not revile the Jews solely because of their racial and ethnic origin, but mainly because of their aspirations to world power, the methods they use to achieve these aims, and their conspiratorial activities" seriously needs to sort their life out.
