It's simply a step towards propagandha. They are trying to show how they are fighting and dying for the liberties and freedoms when they take them away in the long run. How can you speak your mind and have fun with life when you go of and die somewhere else. I know I'm getting of topic, but it's true. They 'fight' for freedom when they only take it away in the long run, you can't be free when your dead!
