One union representative walked out of the Basildon meeting to inform staff at nearby Dagenham, which presses panels for the Southampton plant. There were unconfirmed rumours of a staff walkout at Dagenham on Thursday afternoon. Ford denied that unofficial industrial action had taken place, but confirmed that the entire Dagenham workforce had been given the rest of the day off following a staff briefing.
