State control over the economy.
Strict authoritarian rule, but within reason.

Every person is employed by the government
Government sets quotas for what workers must achieve
Produce of the workers is spread out equally
Government oversees it all and stops those who hurt the revolution in any way

That's my very brief description, but that's the general idea.

That would be a non-society, and a non-mode of production. A system held together only by an overbearing bureaucracy is no society, merely the outer shell of one.

Sounds spooky.

Sounds like Stalinism. No thanks.

Umm...isn't this what more or less the USSR did?

except:

Produce of the workers is spread out equally

Is this a legitimate question or are we just having another thread about how bad the USSR was?

Because this isn't some groundbreaking critique of the USSR. I think that if you really wanted an answer to these questions, there's tons of works out there that take a look at the Soviet economic system and conduct an analysis. Paul Cockshott's stuff is pretty good. There's also the lesser-known "Soviet-Type Economies: Performance and Evaluation" by Robert W. Campbell.

But I don't think you really wanted an answer to those questions when you posted this topic. I think your mind is was quite made up.

Except the "quotas which must be achieved" part, too. When quotas weren't met in the USSR, they'd just be lowered and lo and behold! they were met!

The plans in the USSR's planned economy changed frequently, which kind of puts into question it's planning to begin with...

that's Stalinism. Socialism is workers' control, not party control.
