"It's" is a contraction of "it is".

"Its" is a possessive form of "it" I.e., belonging to it.

I just had to get that off my chest.

Also, a lot of people tend to use "should/could/would of" in place of "should/could/would have". e.g. "I should of known you were a grammar Stalinist" whereas the correct way would be "I should have known you were a grammar Stalinist".
