Hi, 1st post on this website, relatively new to socialism but recent events have led to me reading a lot more around economics and politics from people such as Chomsky, Che and others and have to say that I see a self governing, directly democratic system that seeks to minimise equality and offer the highest standard of life possible to all as the only real goal that society can have. I'm just wondering what nations, if any, have actually existing socialism or are on the way to some degree?
These are my thoughts although I would appreciate someone with a bit more knowledge's opinion
Nicaragua
Bolivia

Venezuela
Cuba

Thanks; sorry if its a bit of a mundane question, more hoping to fill gaps in my knowledge so i can follow the progress of these nations and hang on to a little hope for the future.
