the writer tries to argue that hobsbawm's marxism is a model for modern marxists... because he worked with the labour party (always on the right, i should add), and suggests marxism isn't relevant anymore because there was no "visible marxism" on the student protests -- tho it also suggests marxism may be relevant because the university has a number of "marxist" groups active.
