It somehow never struck me to look up a leftist forum, but I'm happy to have stumbled upon this one after searching for a comprehensive book on the history of the Soviet Union (I'm still open to recommendations, if anyone has any).

Anyway, to get on with my introduction: I'm a U.S. history student from Seattle. My politics have always been fairly radical, however, only in the last year or two have I begun making a serious effort at studying leftist thought. I would currently consider myself something between an anarchist and a socialist, though I still have much learning to do on both schools of thought.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone,

Aaron

Welcome aboard! You are expressing the sort of open but critical mind that is not always present in the left these days. Obviously, the left is presently failing, and so we all need to cultivate the sort of open, learning mind you manifest.

Welcome! Are you familiar with the Kshama Sawant campaign in Seattle?

She is a socialist candidate running against the liberal Frank Chopp for the Washington State House. She had an interesting debate with Chopp. He left early, couldn't take the heat.

G'day mate, and welcome.

On the topic of your tendency, have you perhaps thought about Libertarian Communism? That's something I stumbled upon after I came to this forum. I'm not an expert on it however.
