can an unbalanced diet cause headaches? and if so, what kind of unbalanced diet? my diet consists of primarily beans, pasta, cheese/milk, bread, cereal, and sometimes fruit but not that often. I have also recently started getting frequent headaches. could this be related to my diet? I am not overweight at all and go jogging very frequently and do pushups semi-regularly but do not exercise beyond those two things.

Yes, it could be related to it.

My first three thoughts are diabetes, brain tumors, and caffeine.

Dehydration is the cause of most headaches. Not enough sleep, too much caffeine or nicotine also big causes.

It could be a lot of different things. I'd think since you're exercising moderately it might have to do with hydration cause I know towards the end of summer I'd always push myself harder in the mornings because it was cool out but I wouldn't alter fluid intake even though the rest of the day could get pretty hot, it could have to do with blood sugar issues like hyperglycemia/hypoglycemia based on the diet because I know a lot of people don't eat nearly as often or as much as they should when they exercise. It could have nothing to do with diet and have to do with seasonal weather changes. It might be a new allergy you've developed or one that's more pronounced because of your diet. I've heard that gluten/grains/dairy etc.. can cause headaches in some people.

Did this headache stuff start right at the same time as your changed up in diet or exercise routines?

change in diet yes. change in exercise routines no.

I think it is because of hydration though.

Diet and hydration are probably the cause but I'm not a doc so don't just drink a cup of water if your eyes start bleeding or something.

Cheese, Alcohol, stress, lack of sleep, high computer usage (Especially before sleep and with improper lighting - turn the brightness and contrast down!) and sensitivity to light can all cause headaches/migraines.

Try cutting down on computer usage, sleeping at least 8 hours per night in a comfy bed and cutting out all cheese and most alcohol for a week or two and see how it goes.

I myself have been getting migraineous vertigo (quite unpleasant!) the past few weeks, pretty sure it's because I worked in a call centre all summer staring at a screen 7 hours straight per day, and had a lot of cheese every day w/my omelette. Now i've stopped at the call centre and cutting out cheese semi-permanently. Sad times.

Diet is always related to most body conditions. Maybe it's just that your body is not yet used to the diet and exercise routine that you do. As long as you continue eating healthy foods and doing exercises without going to the extremes you have nothing to worry about.

yeah - check out the cheese - and are you eating too much starchy carbs? maybe you need more protein
