Because of Snoop Dogg's great cultural relevance and the influence he has over Americans who aren't bougie or born before 1970, I'd say this article belongs in the political section, but feel free to move it if you feel its necessary.

Obama smokes the same brand of cigarettes of me, that's reassuring. Nobody who smokes Newports can be that bad. I wonder if he likes Olde English as well.

Does he really smoke Newports? Aren't Newports the cigarettes you can get in US jails?

He does make a compelling argument. People with dancing horses have a dialectical need to enslave humans. Dancing unicorns? Whole different argument altogether. Pretty sure.

Yea.
Newports are objectively speaking the best tobacco product, equaled only maybe by swisher sweets.
A man of fine taste.

9 Is really compelling.

Does Romney really have a dancing horse?

Yuppie Grinder
6th October 2012, 03:48

that is the fucking epitome of bougie

I really doubt that seeing as this thing is all over the internet. If you got a website, there's a thread about this. Anyways he's just a celeb and probably cares more about making money and staying high than about anything here on revleft. Pretty sure.

Update: It looks like Snoop didn’t actually write the list – he merely copied it from Dragonfly Jonez (https://twitter.com/DragonflyJonez)and has been taking all the credit for it. We’re as upset about this as you are.

Dunno why Romney would have a RevLeft account. Seems more likely to see Snoop here.

Yeah actually pretty hilarious. I guess Snoop's just been reposting it though - he writes his own rhymes most of the time, but not his blog-posts I guess.

Does he really smoke Newports?I doubt it. Newports are like the unofficial working class black cigarette. Marlboro's are shunned though and there are all these conspiracy theories about them and how they are designed to make black men sterile or are secretly owned by the KKK. Not sure how widespread or to what extent these stereotypes about smoking habits and preferences are true, but I worked in a liquor store and it seemed true enough to notice as a trend. Really I think it's just marketing though - Newports are cheap and advertised to black audiences while Marlboro Ads have a white cowboy on them. Same reason men don't ususally smoke virginia slims.

I thought it was just a "new york" thing. Every new yorker I've ever known smokes newports.

I don't know, I've seen plenty of Newport ads and I've never picked up on that. Most Newport ads seem to be either minimalist (ie just a close-up picture of a pack of Newports) or weird and corny, like this one that I saw in some tabloid recently:

Who puts mustard on a potato chip?

Seriously WTF, did they hire the Ad agency behind Mentos or something?

The ad looks more like a condom ad for some reason.

"Newport ribbed for your pleasure"

Also you gotta be 21 to buy smokes in the states?

Os Cangaceiros
14th October 2012, 18:45
Nope, the age is 18, or 19 in some states/areas. I have no idea about the 21 thing.

I think it's just their web site that's restricted to 21+

Probably 90s, but newport still uses the same adds, similar pictures are up at gas stations in my town, and in "men's magazines" and stuff like that.

That's even worse, he didn't have to be called Mitt. He's constructed his entire identity around the name Mitt by choice.
