Hello,
I'm Utopist M, 30 years old and i live in The Netherlands.
I'm an Utopianist, an Anarcho-communist and an agnostic. (that's a mouthful...)
I always were a bit of a rebel, but ever since i've read Thomas More's Utopia, i KNOW i'm a communist.
Also, i'm a bit of a pacifist, but not afraid to do anything to achieve my goals.
You might have read it already...i'm an agnostic.
I do not reject nor accept any religion, purely out of the fact that i do not nor cannot know wether there is a higher being.
In holland, sad to say, it is almost impossible to talk about my communism, because of it's bad name.
For me that means two things:
-I need to talk about it elsewhere (meaning here)
-I need to educate people about true communism, not the bolshevic-ism (there goals may have been right, but the results were poor).
Finally i found some alike!
Thanks for letting me join.

Welcome!
but ever since i've read Thomas More's Utopia, i KNOW i'm a communist.
Since you're an agnostic, I assume you take issue with some of the more catholic stuff, like making people do the shit work as punishment for premarital sex.
In all honesty I've never read the book but I've read about it and it sounded pretty bad.

Welcome, indeed! Holland has a rich communist tradition, despite its present impoverishment. I'm looking forward to perhaps learning what if anything remains of Dutch council communism and the heritage of Pannekoek, Gorter, Roland-Host, and others.

Welkom!
I think you should read more communist works.
If you arrived at communism by reading More, great.
But you should also acquaint yourself with the works, that are more scientific.
The manifesto is always a good place to start.

Being agnostic for me means not taking issue with whatever religion, although i think giving people shitty jobs for shitty reasons is wrong.
I'm open to all kinds of religions, but i don't think that, in this day and age, it is smart to let any religion influence the law. (btw i was actually raised catholic)
About Marx's works, i as of yet have not had much time to read but i have downloaded and listened to Marx's Manifesto, and Wage-labour and Capital.
I am still trying to get a hold of Kropotkin's The Conquest of Bread, but i haven't found it yet.
And i am far from finished with reading!
For psycho: Thanks for the online-copy, i'll be reading that for sure
btw. ik ben geboren in het groene hart, maar woon nu in drenthe. Zitten hier veel nederlanders?
Thanks for the big welcome!

Some other books i can recomend, berkmans "abc of anarchism", Emma Goldmans memoirs "living my life" ("mijn leven" in dutch), "bewegingsleer" van billwet (staat geheel online)
There is a sizable amount of dutchies here and we even have a dutch sub-forum but that one is pretty dead as we mostly post in the general fora.

That asshole poodle? Geert wilders?
Most dutchies bought his shit the first time, but his representation in the parliament plumitted almost 50%.
Not much people here (meaning Holland) believes his shit anymore.
I personally think it's because of the leftist-parties are gradually moving towards the centre.
Dutch-left lost their ideals.
