well, he didn't actually say that, but a speech at the labour party conference jon cruddas remarked that he has "mates who are BNP and UKIP and Tory. I don't surround myself with Labour members who have the same views as me".

cruddas likes to think of himself as a "man of the people", a working class lad from the east end (despite now living in plush notting hill). compare and contrast these two articles he wrote for two different audiences, wealthy liberals of hampstead and islington on the one hand, and the werkin' class on the other:

clearly he thinks people who read tabloids are thick oiks.

while we're at it, ed miliband (the other wanker) is getting all structurally anti-semitic on us:

Because Labour is on the side of the business people who want to take the long-term decisions to make their business a success now and in the future.

Not the speculation that tries to make a fast buck out of it.

All of the issues, from quarterly reporting to takeovers, are on the agenda of this review.

We need proper competition in all sectors of the economy so that consumers get a fair deal.

That means not allowing cosy cartels to develop in any sector, from energy to our train network.

Especially those which are essential to the standard of living of millions.

We also need a proper industrial policy for the country: all Government departments working together, including through procurement, to support British business.

SUPPORT REAL BRITISH INDUSTRY. NOT PARASITIC SPECULATORS.

The labour 'left-winger' being hosted by The Sun.

Sounds about right. They're welcome to each other.

This fucker has always irritated me. Presumably the TU block vote in the leadership election, and the eminence of Jon C-word will get Miliband tagged as a 'left-winger', in or out of power. So people are going to think that the 'left' is all about chatting intellectual crap and continuing New Labour under a different, more conservative and quasi-nationalist, guise.
