I'm from Chicago, I'm a musician, I'm an anarchist with syndicalist tendencies.

Came across this place while exploring tapatalk, seemed interesting.

Hope to get to know you!

Welcome!

Good to have a fellow Chicagoan here, even if your politics don't quite match up with mine. :thumbup1:

Welcome! I live in a rural Tea Party town on the northwest coast of California, and you are in the middle of Democratic Party machine politics. Lordy, I do despise Rahm Emmanuel! Despite the apparent differences, though, our local politics are capitalist politics and we gotta do something about this.

Welcome from Cali! You should move here - our Mexican food is much better... so is the weather .

Aww ... I'm just jealous that Chicago has a rad history. For some reason they play "Chic-a-go-go" here in Oakland on the cable public access. Seen it?

Edit: oh yeah and down with Rahm and Daily!

I could never understand why it is that a city with a statue of Benito Juarez on their main street should have such horrible Mexican food? And with such a sizable Mexican population to boot!

And with such a sizable Mexican population to boot! It's the beef industry! Chicago is a great town, but they gotta cool it with the food - everything's got like 250% more meet in it: deep dish pizza, the cow sitting on a tortilla that they call Mexican food .

Silly regional digs about cultural minutia are about as close to jingoism as I get.

Can't go with you on this one. Meat in Chicago is soooo expensive! A great foodie scene though to be sure. Plus there are some pretty good Nouveau-Mexican Chefs out there Like Chef Bayless. But as far as basic Mexican street food goes, nada.

Goddamn it Jeremy(like I know you) weigh in on this shit, it's your thread!

Chicago food is AWESOME! Portillo's Italian beff-n-sausage sandwiches, pizza, hot dogs with everything(save ketchup) and great Mexican food. Of course, not everyone has my fantastic metabolism, so I can see the drawbacks.

Frontera Grill, maybe, but other than that the Mexican food their blows.
Portillo's was a favorite of mine though. And then you got Taylor street for Italian. Downtown for Jilleys, The Palm and Gibson's. Mmmmm!! But Mexican food, nay.

You should take me to dinner if you're ever in Chicago. Based on your restaurant choices, your budget isn't quite as "proletarian" as mine. :)

My ex's company paid for the party. And yes, it was expesnive. Almost forgot Charlie Trotters restaurant. When you get a chance check out a bar called TOONS or TUNES, great jukebox and kind of a dive. Near Irving Park rd. :thumbup1:
