I like Glenn Greenwald's articles. It's too bad he doesn't get more exposure in the American media, I saw a debate with him and (IIRC) a former US drug czar, on United States drug policy, and he hammered that dude. It wasn't even fair.

The majority of Middle East wants Islamic governments. The few secular liberal city folk who make the international press are as representative of the general public as the secular liberals of Saigon where of the Vietnamese.
America is proping up dictators because majority rule means Islamic rule. Same way majority rule meant communist rule in Korea or Vietnam. Lets not fool ourselves that majority rule means democratic rule as we would recognise it.
We need to abandon these places to their misery that they want, vietnam is coming round to capitalism and 40 years of Islamic rule may take the shine off Islamism for the Middle Eastern folk.
American intervention in middle east just like that of Korea and Vietnam is immoral and wrong, let them have the Islamic society they want. Maybe then when their people live in totalitarian misery we can all criticise Islamism as a political movement together as we eventually did with communism when we stopper armed conflict with it.
The comments are quite an entertaining read...
