Hi everyone, I would just like to introduce myself. I've frequented this site for more than a little while now and read posts daily and decided it was finally time to register. I'm a worker/student from South Florida, and yes, I am Cuban/American.

I've been a Communist since I was a teenager, and I hope to continue learning more about the Left here On Rev-Left! :D

Yikes! How difficult is it to be a Red down there? Bloody reactionaries from most of my interactions with them. I spent some time in Sarasota and Coral Gables a while ago.
Welcome Comrade!

Thanks for the welcome! :D

It's definitely not easy. Luckily my best friend is also a Cuban Communist. Imagine my luck! But being a Red is difficult. Even the so called "leftists" down here are quick to demonize you for calling yourself a communist/socialist and immediately bring up my Cuban background as a reason why I SHOULDN'T believe what I do.

But you're spot on with most people bring "Bloody reactionaries". It's not easy, but I am what I am and I know what I believe and why I believe it. Aside from my family, I have zero shame in letting people know my beliefs if they ask or if it's part of the discussion. It's the only to remove the taboo in my opinion.

Welcome, comrade! This is a great place to learn about leftist ideologies and history. Try to ignore all of the sectarianism and bickering among the opposing ideologies.

VDS, Welcome! Like jbeard, I immediately thought of the difficulties you face in the ultra-conservative Cuban-American community. I graduated from Key West High School two years before the Cuban Revolution.

Your successes and failures in engaging and communicating within your community will be of interest and relevant to the left's current inability to get organized.

My red-green best.
