Hello to all, I found this forum by chance while searching for stuff on Thorstein Veblen and I'm so glad I did, what an absolutely fantastic resource this forum is!

Although I've always considered myself left wing, I haven't really considered how I subscribe to a particular branch of left politics until recently. Back in the late 80s / early 90s I was a trade unionist (in a minor role) with the CPSA and was a frequent attendee of the meetings organised by Socialist Organiser (although I was never a signed up member). My thinking at that time was inspired by my hatred of Thatcher rather than an actual interest in the theories of left wing politics.

Anyway, rolling on a few years and wanting to understand how and why the global economic crisis happened has led me to actually realising that I need (and want) to study Marx properly - so, armed with a copy of Capital and a caddy full of tea bags, here I am.

CPSA... Communist Party of South Africa?

Welcome to RevLeft anyway. Please don't be put off by the sectarianism and arguments on offer here, pull up a chair, peruse some debates (probably with some tea which actually sounds like a great idea, I'll get a brew on) and get stuck in!

Ha! Sadly not so revolutionary, originally was the Civil and Public Services Association - the trade union for lower grade UK civil servants, that's before it merged with with NUCPS (National Union of Civil and Public Servants) to form the PCS.

As one oldboy to another, Welcome! I got a computer just to join Revleft a year-and-a-half ago.

There is much useful information here. Recently, a comrade recommended David Harvey's Companion to Marx's Capital (2010), which I just began as an early start to my winter reading program. I find this work to be excellent and what I wanted and needed, and as you mentioned Capital, I am recommending Companion to you.

My red-green best.

Thank you for that, I ordered that particular book after watching a couple of his videos online. Harvey's an excellent writer.

Also - you wouldn't happen to be named after a Korean movie would you?
