Syria GDP: $2892.76
Syria Life Expectancy: 75.7

I find this extremely interesting. Syria, compared to the other Arab countries, has the fourth lowest per capita GDP, but the third highest life expectancy (by a narrow margin). Not bad for a sanctioned country with very little oil.

One gets the impression that, despite its neoliberal reforms, Syria's economic nationalism is another major reason why imperialism seeks to overthrow the government. Yes/No?

(Before anyone mentions it, no I'm not saying Syria is "socialist" so please don't mention something as idiotic as that.)

Just say no to Salafism. That is all.

There is no perfect type of government that is applicable for all countries. Each country has type of government that will fit perfectly to its needs. It is not easy to find what type of government that is and it will undergo through trial and error. The former Syrian government has been tried and proved to be an error. Thanks.

I'd say it's more because Syria is an ally of Iran that governments like the USA (and gulf arab states) wouldn't mind seeing Assad go bye-bye, not necessarily because the state of Syria has anything really substantial to offer them as such. Has more to do with the overall geopolitics of the region, I think.

Probably has little to do with economics, when it comes to the middle east, it's all to do with oil and geo-politics (I.e. Israel). I believe the US would have to be dragged kicking and screaming into an all-out confrontation with Syria. It seems as though, to me, the only reason they will face up to Assad is because they have to - i.e. the tide of opinion turns/has turned against him, especially that including Zionist opinion/the opinion of the Israeli government.

Though i'm not really an expert in the geo-politics of the region, nor the strange relationship between Israel and the US. It's just my take.

Here's a documentary focusing on the lives of school children in Syria.
