I dunno if this is the cool thing where other revlefters are, but I know lots of hardcore kids, ex-punks, tattoo people, etc are rocking denim vests. Here is mine:

was gonna get a denim vest recently, but i settled for a classic denim jacket instead. still, when money allows i'm gonna get a vest -- tho i dunno if i can pull one off tbh.
denim is the best tho, no doubt.
e: gettin the coach the other week, the dude in front of me was wearing one with wolves in the throne room, death in june, burzum, etc. badges/patches. maybe he was a nazi or something, but it looked pretty cool to be fair.

Haha, I would/do rock merch from a number (maybe even all) of those bands.
Plus WITTR are anarchist. Sounds like a pretty typical list of bands for trendy hardcore kids in the states.

I have a black denim vest- something like this without all the silly band patches you'd normally see

Vests without patches make me think of like, people who go "clubbing". Or rappers.

I see a guy around town with a denim vest that has an anarchy patch and a few band patches that I've never took the time to actually read. Never thought of getting one myself, I'm not a vest type of guy, I wouldn't be able to rock it.

I've never seen someone in a club or someone rapping with a denim jacket with the sleeves cut off it. Even if that were the case, and since this thread is about fashion, it would greatly depend on the rest of the outfit. Patches are incredibly pretentious.

I see kids, literally every day, which we normally refer to as "blacksters" (black hipsters) wearing denim vests without patches, usually paired with a snapback hat, obey tshirt, camo shorts/skinny jeans, and vans.
As for rapping in gear like that, lil wayne or lil b?
I just don't get how patches are pretentious either? Like, I'm not talking about fully decked out punk vests like this:

If I saw a person past their mid 20s in some full on punk gear I'd probably roll my eyes.

Yeah I've never seen that but it all depends on the rest of their outfit. I've never dressed like either of those examples.

"Oh yeah I'm going to get this band's patch and sew it on this vest so that everyone who sees this knows that this band represents me especially that one song that I really like"

I badly want a denim jacket, but not with any goth shit on it. I wouldn't say it's pretentious, it just seems a bit attention-seeking, though granted some people do look cool with them.
I don't have any cool denim bits right now, my one super-cool item of clothing is this leather jacket:

"Yo look at this patch of this band I just sewed onto my vest, I am like part of the band now- and everyone knows that when they see me and my vest and these patches coming at them that I mean serious business based upon the politics of these bands that they will obviously be very familiar with"
"I have an idea, since we don't hop trains or live in filth let's buy patches and sew them onto our perfectly good clothes instead of using them creatively as actual patches to repair holes in our clothes which is where it started but that's too much work actually wearing out clothes my parents buy me them too fast to wear out"

I don't own a denim vests, denim overwear isn't really my style. I do have a denim jacket, but it's less punk and more Montana Rancher. Similar to this:

When it comes to coats I prefer my trench coat or peacoat.

Leather jackets are expensive. Thus I don't wear them.
The newest clothes I got were two pairs of jeans my cousin sent me from the US. One pair black and the other grey. As well as a short trench coat. Like it barely reaches the middle of my thighs. It is pretty sweet.
Honestly, I've been wearing mostly the same shirts since I graduated high school in 2008. Many of them are too small for me now. I really need new clothes, but I'm poor as shit. :/
Although, to be fair, I do look handsome as all hell in pretty much whatever I wear.

Goodwill has leather jackets. Check it out next time you're in the US (you've lived there at some point before, right? or am I confusing you with someone else). Usually in the summer, all their winter stuff is stocked up then because nobody's buying it.
I've gotten several wool sweaters (a couple Merino) from there for less than $5 each for my camping/hiking/hunting pack

Yeah I'm the guy.

I've found a few awesome denim jackets at Goodwill, but they were all huge and went down to my knees. They looked ridiculous, so I didn't bother. Almost everything I get from Goodwill is too big, though.
