So, I got a copy of Sun Yat-sen's The Three Principle's of the People and an accompanying disk for free today. I don't know too much about Sun and his principles other than the fact that his legacy as Kuomintang leader was claimed by both Mao Zedong and Chiang Kai-shek apparently, that he has been refereed to as a socialist, and that his principles are nationalism, democracy, and livelihood. Or, so I've heard. What does everyone here think of Sun and/or his principles. I have no opinion yet and I am trying to at least partially form one before I read he text.

He may well have been the very last Bourgeois Socialist from a school of thought originating from just before Marx's Communist League.

Regarding The Three Principles:
"It's platform was Dr. Sun's San Min Chu I or 'Three Principles of the People.' These principles were known as nationalism livelihood and democracy'. In brief, they meant national liberation and unification; restoration of China's economic independence and the regeneration of rural life; and universal education and enlightenment of the whole nation in preparation for modern, popular government in China."

Sun Yat Sen was a great anti-colonial revolutionary. He pushed for unity with the nationalists and the communists of China (which unfortunately broke apart after his death) and had a great relationship with Lenin and the Soviet Union.
