I added a poll so we have some kind of indicator of how many have sent them in. Vote if you have. And also people, if you think some category is too hard, skip that one! You won't be shot for doing it.

But at least fill in the revleft category, thats the best part..

How many past winners are still active here?

Not many indeed, even though some really good ones still hang around actually (such as yourself, even though I'm not sure you ever won anything? You should have in any case). Some of the lost ones bans I personally disagree with, and might also have been able to help to reverse (by convincing people) had they themselves not been so bitter and uncooperative. But in my defense it's not like I had the absolute and ultimate authority even when I was part of the admin team.

They still vote on stuff etc.. Democratically. It's quite a bit fewer people than before, and that isn't a good thing, but it's also the most committed members -- and I'm not just talking on the site here but in real life as well. Political people; not always perfect but trying their best on the time they can spare from the real life struggle, wage jobs etc.

I'm still convinced that at one point the CC went to shit and had to be abolished in the form it existed back then for a number of reasons -- some bigtime trolls we just could not find a way to deal with as well as otherwise good users who decided to troll it -- and thus the "politbyro" (admin team) took over the reigns. Unfortunately that just might have been necessity at that point.

Moreover, as far as I can remember you (unfortunately as you are a rather clever person with a good sense for justice) always consistently refused to take part in the administrative features of the board anyway. So kind of I don't understand why you'd complain really, even though input from you is and always was welcome.

And most of all, seriously, the argument that it's just a website and not our model society still has the same weight behind it as it used to. Yeah we try to be fair but running a website of this size simply isn't a dance on roses for us mods and the admins.

This all said, I'd personally be prepared to throw my support behind some kind of proposal for a return to more user participation, if it was a smart one. I'm just not sure how that could be arranged?

After all we tried with the CU forum members voting on rules, but there simply wasn't enough interest -- people didn't vote in the polls and administrative process was delayed, so it had to be abolished too. :(

What is the golden Che for? On what grounds should I nominate someone for it?

It's simply the most awesome user you think we have at the moment... The award name basically traces itself from the times the site was still called che-lives.com.

Ostrinski
4th November 2012, 04:43
I have a few in mind but they've all been around for a long time. Is that ok? Also, do we nominate after the awards?

Sentinel

The longer they've been around and been awesome, the better as I see it is. I'm not sure what you mean by your second question, that sounds like an issue for NEXT years awars, unless that sect that believes the world will end december this year is right obviously. ;)

Can restricted users be nominated in any category?

Le Libérer
4th November 2012, 14:24
I'm going to send out a mass PM to all users to participate in the poll.

And I think it is very unrealistic to expect users to use this board consistently for 10 years. I valued and miss many people who outgrew this board and am still in contact with many of them. But yeah, we also have quality new people as well, and I welcome and value their participation as well.

Sentinel
4th November 2012, 14:44
So you're saying we nominate now

Yes.

Can restricted users be nominated in any category?

Yes. Once restricted member Bud Struggle even won the Main ward, Users user of the year or the Golden Che as we have come to call it now, by having a downright election campaign..

That kind of thing shouldn't be allowed again though if you ask me. If we see someone - restricted or not - with signs such as "vote for me" I think we should react. This is supposed to be reflecting spontaneus opinions of people imo.

4th November 2012, 15:14

What is gender identity? I wasn't sure how to answer that.

Your not knowing/understanding the term indicates to me that your gender identity likely matches your sex (unlike me, as my gender identity is male even though my sex is female.)

I didn't mean for this to sound judgmental or anything, so, sorry if it did...

Don't worry, I didn't take it as judgmental at all. So I'm a male, and that would make my gender identity male? It changes if you're transgender or something along those lines?

Ostrinski
4th November 2012, 22:17
Your biological sex is relative to what you've got down there. Do you have a penis?
Your gender identity is the gender you identify as socially. Do you identify as a female socially? Do you identify as a male? The answer to this question will answer the question on the survey.

Good boost. Seeing that its only the beginning of the month still, and over 10 000 poeple were pm'd, I'm rather optimistic we will reach the 50 minimum (which is just somethng I came up with rather than an official decision btw). I remember some awards when it was clear that only a few had sent in their answers and it kind of ruined it.

Although 100 or 200 would be even greater tahn 50.. I don't personally have the time, but if there really comes a reply influx you should ask someone to help with the compiling RA.

Keep asking your pals to send them in everyone!
