Just recently, Chicago native politically conscious hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco has been involved in a twitter argument with young gangster violent rapper Chief Keef.

Keef recently laughed off the shooting and death of Keef's rival rapper Lil Jojo. Lupe recently stated he was afraid of message Chief Keef spreads. Keef tweeted Lupe Fiasco saying ""Lupe fiasco a hoe ass nigga And wen I see him I'ma smack him like da lil ***** he is #300."

This is an interview released an hour ago. Lupe Fiasco gets very emotional apon seeing a video of himself in Chicago 6 years prior. He talks about how nothing's changed in his city and how some people in the video are dead.

Lupe just himself leaked an unfinished version of a single set to be released a year from now called American Terrorist II. The lyrics are very appropriate. Link below.

Here are the lyrics to "American Terrorist II", fully explained on rapgenius: http://rapgenius.com/Lupe-fiasco-american-terrorist-ii-lyrics

These events all seem linked.

Any comments on the situation? Any fans? Any songs people would like to share?

Great song. Can't wait for the new album. And fuck that Chief idiot, like the top comment on the video says:

'Hip hop needs more Lupe Fiasco's, and less Chief Keef's.'

actually that's a pretty flippant remark given the circumstances, but lupe fiasco makes hip hop for guardian readers. good god, listen to this shit:

_mPd_SDAryQ

man, keef may be behaving like a dickhead but he's never inflicted anything that bad on the world.

dunno if that's hip hop for guardian readers, sounds more like every grime mc that's tried to 'crossover'. I dunno, do guardian readers like tinchy stryder?
but just to confirm that sound is horrific.

wasn't there some lupe fiasco interview lately where he said he always carries the coming insurrection with him or something?

i meant in general lupe makes right-on, socially concious music that wouldn't threaten or alienate middle-class professionals in north london.

Never could enjoy Lupe past his first album, which was ok, but he's always bored me. At the least he doesn't deserve an official thread.

Well, many of his newer songs are not good, and the lasers album isn't Lupe's best in the least, but I've listened to all his pre-Food & Liquor mixtapes and he's a good dude with a nice message.

In all seriousness, political hip-hop is what nudged me on the path to reading Marx. The first political literature piece I read was from Lupe's livestream book club.

Conflict Diamonds (Early mixtape track about the diamond trade)

American Terrorist (Off his first LP)

Words I Never Said (Off his newest album, he's still trying to stay true through all the record label bullshit)

Around My Way (Single off his upcoming album)

***** Bad (Single off his upcoming album. I especially like this song/music video, the comparison to how hip-hop portrays people since being taken over by the industry, to racist blackface minstrel shows is really interesting)

he's over, y'all. doesn't matter if he calls his next album The Cool Food & Liquor: Chi City Guevera Kick Pushin' to Touch the Sky (Fahrenheit 1/15 Part IV), you're still gonna get Lazers Lupe from here on out.

This made me laugh. I guess we gotta face the facts sometime or another.

He left us with quite a few gems. He said he left to focus on studies. Maybe he'll return in the future if he feels the spark. Great artist.

That's cool, I didn't like Lupe until I heard Lasers.

Chief Keef is awesome. But his attitude towards Lil JoJo is kinda messed up.

I like some Fiasco but Lasers is that shit I don't like. Don't like, don't like.

F&L 2 Part 1 leaked. I'm a couple tracks deep. Listen to Unforgivable Youth. Lupe goes in on his disgust with the idea of private property. This might be the savior album.

Edit: Might have spoke too soon still developing my opinion...
