how... gross. that's the only word that really springs to mind. it reminds me of when some group called the 'coffee party' was formed in opposition of the tea party and their main political point was "we believe the government is a force for good in society" or something like that. when the core of your politics is how much you just love the government you should kill yourself.
yeah, dunno... stuff like this just brings out the old crass-loving anarkiddy in me.

I half expect the coffee party to run on a platform of abortions for everyone.

Well as weird as it is to say this: right now, the government is our worst enemy, yet only friend too. It only depends who controls the apparatus. that's all.

Fucking absurd.
Edit - that said, it sums up the liberal mindset quite well: the government apparatus serves as an arbiter, a focal point around which all layers of society may find representation or be able to voice its grievances. It might as well be an impartial actor, overseeing that everyone gets a fair shake. It's the right's fault for disrupting and/or tainting this process (at least, if you believe that kind of shit).

whoever "controls the apparatus" acts within the interest of capital, so... what does it matter? even if the nicest, most caring lovers of the proletariat "controlled the apparatus" right now they'd be inflicting austerity.
