I just saw this and give it two thumbs-and some toes-up. A friend said "well, that was different". Has anyone else seen it?

Hushpuppy is lovely; and some, or all, of the actors.....aren't! I believe they are just people who were just found in the area.

Well, generally it's getting loads of great reviews. Some people have been critical. You really have to specifically search for the critical reviews though. It seems to be a well made movie, with a bit of a troubling and ambiguous message.

Also, for a movie that seeks to explore the experiences of blacks living in destitute conditions, it's worth noting that the two screenwriters and director look like this:

I love films with troubling and ambiguous messages, so I'd probably love it.

There are quite a few palefaces in the bathtub too; and most seem happy there. All the people howling about wealth-redistribution can't imagine anyone who doesn't want to grab all they can, at anyone's expense...people who only want a little more than nothing.
