The official media-friendly narrative explaining yesterday's latest tragic shooting incident in midtown Manhattan in which a recently unemployed Jeffrey Johnson, 58, walked up to his former boss and shot him three times point blank before "calmly" walking away, is that Johnson also shot 9 other people, luckily none fatally, before being taken down by the NYPD. Sadly, as so often happens these days, the "media-friendly" narrative is wrong, and as CBS and Guardian report, Johnson did not fire during the quote unquote shootout, in which at least nine other perfectly innocent were hit, all of them by stray NYPD bullets.

I think even the NYPD have admitted to shooting everyone but I don't know if they've backed off from the shootout story yet. It's kinda funny that the police unit who instigated this was an anti-terrorist patrol. I wonder if the victims will be compensated by the city? A friend of mine was struck by a police cruiser while crossing the street years ago and was not compensated.

As I was getting a bagel from a deli,the TV was on FOX showing coverage of the incident and I kid you not,FOX definitely tried to make a connection between this and Islamic fundamentalism. They kept putting emphasis on how it's a post 9-11 society and how the FBI and NYPD are ready to crack down on terrorism. They first hinted that the shooter was of middle eastern descent,after information leaked out about the cause of the shooting they tried to created a second shooter that was of middle eastern descent. After it was confirmed that it was only one shooter they quickly retracted their allegations. I couldn't believe what I witnessed,blantant yellow journalism.

I'm pretty sure that the NYPD aren't even denying this at this point.

It's also interesting that this had been touted as a "mass shooting" when in reality the gunman just killed one person (no question it was murder in cold blood of course).

But the "mass shooting" aspect here was actually the police it seems.

I honestly doubt i could manage that with explosives so how the fuck does the NYPD manage that with bullets ?

New York is a pretty busy place and hand guns tend to be fairly inaccurate.

apparently 2 thirds of shots fired by the NYPD miss their targets, that makes them even worse shots than dutch cops.
but yeah, managing to hit 9 people with 16 shots aimed at person number 10 is even then a bit bizare.

This reminds me of the 1932 shooting in Hamburg Germany where the nazis marched through working class neighborhood, fights broke out between the nazis and communists and the police opened fire on the crowd and trying/executing dozens of communists for killing protesters. It is now proven that the police's "stray bullets" killed the dozens of people and planted evidence to blame communists. It most likely was a plan of the nazis and the capitalist state's police to set up communists.

The cops here are forced to fire X amount of bullets on a gunrange every year to be allowed to have a gun on them.

This means that where i live (wadden island) they have to spend a few days on the mainland to get their quota.

but do you know that that X amount is lower than those required for civi permits (who are not allowed to carry their weapon arround let alone use it outside of the range).
and even that already low ammount of range days, that they can do fully paided under working hours a lot dont even make and offcially should be barred from carrying a gun...

Actually i did know that many dont make the requirement but that is more a problem of enforcement.

Also i would like to point out that this is a measure that can be enacted today under capitalism before i get accused of wanting armed cops running around after socialism.
