Years ago, an still now at times, I grapple with the idea of working in politics in some fashion. Thankfully I never tried interning with a Democrat back when I considered myself a liberal. I've always been passionate about politics, as we all surely all as Marxists..so I'm glad in retrospect that I didn't bother getting involved. I now work in Film production and find it satisfying.. but I wonder if something in politics may have been a better calling for me -- I studied Philosophy and Political Science in school and love to debate all the time. What are your views on working in politics? I also find that becoming a lawyer would likely be a waste of time due to how corrupt the legal system is under Capitalism. Your thoughts and experiences are appreciated. Is working for the government a good idea?

In what capacity? Bradley Manning is a wistleblower by circumstance. Why not do it intentionally. Put up with training, enjoy a few years of high rank, and finally sacrifice yourself by passing classified information to the public. That's the revolutionary career trajectory.

If you can bear the ideological contradiction then take the money. Otherwise, don't expect change to come easy.

Endeavors like this have a way of wearing one's sensibilities down. Before you know it you've become a party "hack". Compromise after compromise until you don't know who that picture of a fine young Marxist is on your mums mantle piece was.

Compromise in itself does not lead to reaction.
It all rests on your analysis of the context, what your goals are, what will be gained etc.
You could indeed be a progressive bulwark in a sea of reaction, it all rests on the material context, your Revolutionary character and your analysis of it.
"It would be absurd to concoct a recipe or general rule (No Compromise!) to serve all cases. One must have the brains to analyse the situation in each separate case" - V.I. Lenin
