No clue. I don't have any evidence to back up my statement, just personal speculation haha.

Given the rhetoric that's flying around about how the Earth is going to have an energy crises in the near future because of over-use of oil, etc, it doesn't surprise me that the bourgeois powers-that-be would instigate some sort of war that just masks their desire to take advantage of such economic conditions.

Assad has said Syria would use them only to deal with a foreign invasion.

It should be noted that chemical weapons are not actually all that deadly or massively destructive, but are generally used tactically to disable or drive back advancing troops or troops holding an area. They are also tricky to use and control. Syria is hardly unique in having them, and other nations, including the US has used them many times, and very recently.

WMD has become a weapon of propaganda, with much dysinformation, and the only weapon of actual MASS destruction used so far been nuclear bombs, although some chemicals such as white phosphorous and agent orange, and radioactive weapons such as depleted uranium have devastating effects in the long term -- and, of course, carpet bombing and 'shock and awe' attacks on a nation, or the destruction of vital infrastructure such as electric plants, water supplies, and medical facilities, as the US has done.

The United states and european countries especially France and the UK are desperately looking for any pretext to intervene in Syria now that there is no chance that China and Russia will permit an intervention via the United nations.

USA will use anything they possibly can to get their grubby hands on Syria and deploy troops, History simply proves this.

Isn't there plans right now for military to go to the boarder of Syria to help the people fleeing the country? Could be a good gateway for the US and UK.
