My name is Matt, and I'm new here. I'm from Louisiana, and I'm a leftist, as you may assume. I don't follow any certain strand of Communism yet, but I do consider myself one.

If anyone is wondering what that language is, it is Cherokee, and the word is Osiyo! (Hello!)

That's Cherokee? Fascinating. Are you Cherokee or do you study their language?

Welcome to Revleft!

Welcome.

When I saw the title, I actually thought it was Armenian. :D

I second Yazman's question.

I second Yazman's question.

Really? That's odd. :D

Both!

By the way, how do you change your username? I came up with something better :P

I was just about to give you the link to the name change thread but it seems you've found it already.

Let me know if you have any other issues or questions, though.

It will be great to have an indigenous perspective on the forum, there often aren't enough and indigenous people are all too often overlooked in revolutionary left politics, unfortunately.

o well this is ok I guess

It's not for nothing. My dad spent years fighting for indigenous rights and various land claims and such, and he's pretty bitter about the whole thing.

Yeah, probably because many Natives are hopeless or have lost their culture.

Welcome to Revleft, Comrade! I look forward to seeing you on many of the threads. We need some more voices around here. I'm fairly new as well but once you get past the first 10 posts it becomes easier. Also, if there was ever a place to explore the branches of Communism it's here lol

Cheers Man! :thumbup1:

Also, If you don't mind me asking, was there something in particular that got you interested in the cause?

Well, I've kinda been a Marxist for a while, bout four months. But what got me was the arguments in various Marxist literature. And now I am here! :D

Also, I have always hated police and the rich, when I lived with my mother we were below the poverty line and we lived in a shithole neighborhood, so I see what's up with that shit.

No, I am definitely not full, not even 1\4 and probably not even 1\8. I don't know about my great-grandparents on my grandfather's side, but I hope one day to locate where my Cherokee ancestry begins. And to quote a Cherokee chief:

There is no such thing as 'part-Cherokee'. Either you're Cherokee or you're not. It isn't the quantity of Cherokee blood in your veins that is important, but the quality of it . . . your pride in it. I have seen full-bloods who have virtually no idea of the great legacy entrusted to their care. Yet, I have seen people with as little as 1/500th blood who inspire the spirits of their ancestors because they make being Cherokee a proud part of a their everyday life.

So yeah. Are you a Native too?

The same to you, comrade. Unfortunately I don't have a Cyrillic keyboard.

Matt Apocalypse, Greetings from Tolowa country (northwestern California coast). I'm an invader who has gained a great respect for native peoples and their tendency to develop ecological relations with each other and the rest of life. These are proto-communist relations.

I see intelligent life everywhere. James Bluewolf, Cherokee, was the poet laureate of Lake County, CA, and here is his poem, "Grandfather Says," which I am posting/butchering from memory. With apologies to James Bluewolf:

Grandfather says,
Those who support our feet, the rock people,
Are alive.
Everywhere he sees family,
Caresses shrubs,
Hugs trees,
Sheds shoes to feel grass, rocks, water.
Grandfather says,
Cigar store Indians looked that way
Because they were practicing to be rocks.

My red-green best.
