I remember seeing his guy interviewed and it just broke my heart. It's awful to see how much he's suffering and that no one is allowed to help him end that suffering without fear of punishment.

A man paralysed from the neck down has lost his High Court case to allow doctors to end his life without fear of prosecution.
Tony Nicklinson, 58, from Melksham, Wiltshire, communicates by blinking and has described his life as a "living nightmare" since a stroke in 2005.
Mr Nicklinson said he would appeal against the decision.
The case went further than previous challenges to the law in England and Wales on assisted suicide and murder.

Father-of-two Mr Nicklinson was left paralysed with locked-in syndrome after a catastrophic stroke while on a business trip to Athens.
Speaking through a machine just before the judgement, Mr Nicklinson said he would be "relieved" to know the verdict.
He added: "If I lose we will appeal, and I am forced to live a life I no longer want for a while longer."

It doesn't make any sense why they don't let him either, the UK is no longer a staunchly religious and allowing doctors to ease the pain of patients who request it will not cause them to all turn into Harold Shipman.

Its a pretty awful reflection on the UK that extremely ill people like this poor man have not the right to choose when they can end their lives with dignity, whilst thousands who can achieve a decent quality of life are being robbed of their benefits and the help they need. I hope the Olympics didn't give the wider world the impression that the UK is a civilised, happy country, because it is far from that.

Poor guy, I couldn't imagine what it's like to be in that mental state, and I hopefully never will.

I was absolutely furious at this decision. His family will appeal, and if denied once again, they shall be placed in an absolutely awful position. Either watch him suffer the rest of his life, or end it for him and risk facing serious jail time. This is simply inhumane and in my eyes evil.

I just don't understand how people can lack so much compassion and reason. Who are they to decide his own personal fate? Cowards.
