anyone can understand it.
It's easy.
You're not an exploiter,
so you can grasp it.

find out more about it.
The stupid call it stupid
and the squalid call it squalid.

the exploiters call it a crime
But we know:

Brecht was possibly the most "colorful" communist of the 20th century.

During the East Berlin rebellion in 1953, the government issued a statement to the effect that it was "losing confidence in the people"

Brecht's response: "Perhaps the government should dissolve the people and elect a new one."

I read someplace that one can't trully grasp the brilliance of his poetry when its translated into English, because the use of simplistic language was part of his style.
