In your view is entertainment in a socialist society going to take the same form as those in a captialist society? (As in movies, novels, tv shows etc etc...) Or it is going to be something completely different?

I think that basicly they should be along the same lines. Good entertaining films books etc should be made for just that, entertainment. The should not though be made for financial gain but for enjoyment and education.

I think it's impossible to predict what people will enjoy in a different society, but I think it will probably change since so much of popular art/entertainment is solely based around profit. Additionally I think there will be more variety because the means to create art and entertainment will be open to more people rather than being concentrated in the hands of a few wealthy media giants or publishing houses(for TV film and music at least).
With our current technology, it is easy to see one way in which entertainment might be different; if everyone had acess to the best information technology (say, at least, everyone had fast internet and digital cable) then people could have free acess to any music or films or books the wanted with a few clicks of the mouse. Also since there wouldn't be the waste of competeing companies fighting for the same markets, then instead of having a separate computer, TV, cable, internet, cd-player, phoneline and all that, you could have more intergrated technology that's more flexible. With digital technology, companies want to make it so that you don't have "free" network TV or radio, but you pay-per-play all music and movies and, for a fee, rent a movie or TV show or song for a limited ammount of time. In a society not oriented around making bucks for companies, all this information could be freely accessed by anyone at any time.

This is something I wrote a while ago...and would probably make a few changes if I were writing it now. But it's at least an attempt to answer some of the questions...

Just to add to Redstar's article:
People may end up doing proper hobbies and crafts in Classless society,
and also, people may end up in jobs they like so much that they can't be bothered with any hobbies

By the way, what kind of movies were there in the USSR?

Some ideas:
- New alternative to Windows and programs for it
- New big TV/home theathers for everyone with free 200 channels, Internet access, videogames and developed by workers (this one will take time and a lot of progress, this new cable/satellite system should have leftist channels, and only few capitalist ones)
- Books freely available
- Free music (always giving credit to the authors)
Of course this wont really be a priority at first, and it's hard, as Gravedigger said, to predict how things will be.
