so basically recent studies of disco show if you don't like it because it isn't punk enough you're either racist, sexist or homopobic, or all three probably. the social repercussions of disco music were far more revolutionary than the fucking sex pistols. plus it's good fun, so let's enjoy it.

probably my all time favourite, 'you make me feel (mighty real)' by sylvester:

sister sledge - if they're good enough for mark e. smith they're good enough for me:

another side to disco is the way artists from the experimental / punk scene picked up on it. my favourite example being arthur russell. this song is so beautiful:

I have to say I hate disco because I can't dance, I look like a drunken bear flailing wildly at a particularly irritation wasp. At least I am not expected to dance to punk, which I can assure you is a relief for everyone I know.

i can't dance either, at all... but i make less of a fool of myself "dancing" to disco or funk sorta stuff than indie or punk. i just don't know where to start.

I'm a big fan of the Salsoul Orchestra. Disco, and in turn, early house, was an incredibly gritty music scene, absolutely brilliant.
