In the hope of not having to actually look at those links, I will offer the following speculation...

Whenever Muslims do something that is "bad" in the eyes of the writer, that's not "true Islam".

At least, that's the dodge that the Christians always come up with. Whenever they are reproached for some Christian atrocity, the reply is invariably "that's not true Christianity".

There are, of course, various branches and interpretations of Islam. The Western media fails to realise that Islam is just as nebulous as Christianity. There are liberal Muslims, traditionalist Muslims, orthodox Muslims and psychoravingloony Muslims, just as there are Christians.

So there are different takes on Islam, but none is more nor less 'true' than any other from an objective point of view.
