Update about "Support Pelican Bay SHU Prisoners' Five Core Demands (hunger strike)"
Hello CA Hunger Strike Supporters,
Last year you signed Prisoner Hunger Strike Solidarity's petition in support of the CA Hunger Strikers and the five core demands launched by prisoners in the Security Housing Unit (SHU) at Pelican Bay.
The prisoners need your support again! Please take a few minutes to sign another petition, this time rallying support for Assembly Bill 1270, which will restore media access for prisoners. Assembly Bill 1270 was introduced by Assembly member Tom Ammiano to lift the media ban on CA prisons. The CA Appropriations Committee will be making an important vote concerning AB1270 on Monday, August 13th.
As you now, media exposure helped spread awareness of and grew support for the 2011 CA Hunger Strike exponentially, so much that the CA Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR) was forced to negotiate with the hunger strikers.
Help Prisoner Hunger Strike Solidarity get more signatures on the petition in favor of this bill and support the prisoners in their struggle for human rights!
