the tory party was the previous name of the conservative party in Great Britain, its still used both by its opponents as a detorgatory name on behalf of its upperclass fuedal connectations and as a name of honor by certain factions of the british conservative party to differentiated their tradionalist monarchist fuedal/big government conservatism from their more modern enlightendment based (think edmund burke etc) liberal/small government counterparts.
