Greetings comrades,

I am from India, and as the username suggests I am a fan of Beethoven. I believe he was a great progressive ... he inspires me. I am familiar with Marxist lit., but owing to my aversion for authority, I consider myself an anarchist. As to my other interests, well, it is music. I am an aspiring composer.

That's all for now, more later. Hope to make friends here and learn a lot.

Regards,
Beeth

Given what generally passes for "marxists" in India I can't blame you. Welcome, comrade.

Welcome, comrade! Glad you are among us.

How do you feel about the Naxalites? I'm curious.

They are Maoists, I believe. I can't really say anything either way. On the one hand, human rights abuses are common in india and in poor areas, people suffer a lot. This is the real issue, but as to whether naxals are using this as an opportunity to push a progressive agenda ... I really can't say.

Hello comrade,

It's nice to see a user who resides in my mother land (I'm half-Indian).

The working men have no country!

Not if you're a Maoist.

Note to self: half-jokingly using common ethnicity to break ice is unacceptable on RevLeft

This is serious business

My response was jokingly as well. I suppose emotions/sarcasm/irony don't translate well through text.

Beeth, Welcome! As you can see from many comments, Revlefters have lots of questions about the left in India, and you are now one of our few resources.

As for Marxism versus anarchism, Marx defined communism in the Manifesto as "an association, in which the free development of each is the condition for the free development of all."

That's an anarchist/communist concept, I believe. "Authoritarian communism" is a gross contradiction, despite its many manifestations in recent history.
