A movie, or movies, by them that you just can't get into?

I was thinking about Coppolla (love G Father movies and Apocolypse Now)...what was the deal with Dracula? I just didn't get it, it seemed such a mess and the whole 'you know, vampires can actually wander about in daylight' bit really annoys me.

Also Kubrick and the Cruise / Kidman getting freaky movie.

Any directors you love that have disappointed?

In Bram Stoker's novel, Dracula merely loses his powers in daylight but is otherwise unharmed.

Good point, not read it in a while and forgot that part.

Still didn't like the movie as a whole.

Eyes Wide Shut (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120663/). What was Kubrick thinking?

Also, the Godfather Trilogy. When it aired on TV couple months back, all my friends were talking about how great it is. I watched it, and..... meh.

I think Eyes Wide Shut was a great film.

I didn't really like it, but I do like Stone.

Gus Van Sant, Gerry. I mean I think I get what he was trying to do, but fuck was it bland.

THIS.

I love Tarantino, but Deathproof was a huge disappointment. I didn't like Inglorious Basterds that much either - too slow, very little action, tedious.

As for Eyes Wide Shut, it's my #2 favourite movie of all time (Ninth Gate being the 1st), I thought it was absolutely brilliant.

QT - Inglorious Basterds

I mean what was the big fuss about this film? Best Picture nod?

The only good thing about that Christopher Waltz.

Peter Jackson, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

I mean, he was the genius behind Bad Taste, Dead Alive and Meet the Feebles, and then he goes and sells out to The Man and directs those films? Bah!

I want to see a pudgy kiwi chainsawing his way out of an alien's ass! I want to see a puppet fox yodelling about his favorite sex act! Not this Lord of the Rings crap!

I completely agree with you.
