Well this is certainly an interesting turn of events! And I'm really feeling dirty for actually kind of liking the new tune (http://soundcloud.com/snooplion/la-la-la-snoop-lion) even if this whole thing was pretty cringeworthy.

I'm sure it'll be awful. Snoop hasn't put out a good tune in ages. Based off that article he sounds like one of those people who's knowledge of reggae is limited to Bob Marley, Bob Marley's children, and Sublime.
Sensual Seduction is the best music video of all time, tho.

What do Lions have to do with reggae?

lion of judah is a pretty prominent rastafari symbol, it's in the ethiopian flag too

That article was pretty interesting actually. Good for snoop if he's found something to ground himself in. As odd as Rastafarian doctrine can be, I still think it has some real value and if thats how he finds something bigger than "gin and juice" then all the more power to him! Though his old tunes remain some of my favorite rap tracks :p

I love 90's Snoop. I think he's just gone downhill since.
I mean, how do you go from this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqrhgAV7528)to doing songs with Justin Bieber?

Really IMO it was early 90s Snoop... I think he freaked out after Tupac got killed (only to return in hologram form like Obi-Wan). His No Limit days were sad. In the last decade it just seemed like he didn't give a fuck and was recording when he wanted to without any real sense of who he was musically.

I support snoop in all his pot smoking...
I'd have more respect if he changed his name to snoop pup. snoop lion seems a bit 'take over the Kingdom imperialist'. But what do I know? I'm a Blues-perp, myself.

“I feel I have always been a Rastafari. I just didn’t have my third eye open, but it’s wide open right now.”
Not in public, Snoop!
I would say its another run of the mill popstar conversion, ala Bob Dylan and his born again Christian phase. You're not nobody unless you've seen the light!
