In this video, Judith Butler discusses her performative theory around gender and gender construction. Her arguement is a representative of and one of the best known of the non-essentialist arguements around gender and sexual identity. In contrast many transgender and transexual members on this forum argue for a more biological explanation for gender in a more brain/body divid around the idea of sexual brains and sexual bodies, for instance the female brain in male body or vice versa. My question is to the transgender and transexual members, what is your response to Butler's thesis, does it contradict your lived experience or confirm it?
