i think there's something demagogic about him. just without the charm and charisma. he likes to think he was the man who "took on" the murdoch empire single-handedly, mostly 'cos he blames them from splitting up his marriage. i don't know why i hate him so much but i really think he's an awful fat bastard. it might even be something as irrational as disliking his face, idk.

my favourite bourgie politicians are usually those who are generally decent and nice human beings so i can just separate them being politicians from the fact that i like them as persons. in finland, this usually means mostly younger green party or left alliance MPs, because they're most likely to share my interests outside of politics despite being cappies. minister of culture paavo arhinmäki would be one, even though his politics are terrible, he seems like generally a cool guy i wouldn't vote but who i could imagine sharing a pint with if i ran into him in the helsinki night. he's into some of my favourite hiphop artists, has been quite outspoken for graffiti artists here and is a huge football fan.
my least favourite bourgie politician would probably be though this guy though. (http://www.hs.fi/kuvat/iso_webkuva/1135235255922.jpeg) it's all about something as irrational as disliking his face.

Favorite: Bernie Sanders. Least favorite: it's hard one, but Obama really annoys me. I know it's weird because Romney is probably a bit worse, but the way some liberals view Obama as some kind of hero just really annoys the hell out of me.

ok i'm not american but how much truth there really is to this obama hero thing? i've only really seen it as a conservative talking point, most liberals i know from the us have their reservations towards obama. the obama messiah thing has always in my mind seemed more like a pretty stupid anti-liberal caricature to me, like they all do nothing but post about great obama to their twitter feed while sitting in starbucks.

I'm leaning towards liking this guy. (Colorado Representative Jared Polis)
He understands the internet and youth more than others seem to and just from his answering on this thing he did on reddit he seems like a pretty cool guy.

No, it's a pretty true statement that many liberals adore Obama and everything he does. It's pretty disgusting.

Michelle Bachmann is lesbian? What? Is this a recent thing cause I've never heard this other than in jokes and false personal attacks. I know for a fact that she was atleast at some point married to a man (fairly recently if jot currently too) and i also know she has kids.

Um.... absolutely not. Bachman is a religious fanatic that thinks "marriage is between a man and a women", argues against evolution, believes that she should do anything her husband tells her to because "it's god's will" and other mind-numbing stupid shit.
Anyway.
Favorite: Either Fidel Castro or Justice Party candidate Rocky Anderson
Worst: Obama and Romney

A lot of liberals do have this sort of "hero worship" of him going on. It is probably minority, but it is annoying as all hell minority. Yes, most liberals I know are social-democrats so they aren't too happy with him, but there is a small section of liberals that won't tolerate any criticism of the guy. They are hailing him as the new FDR.

Yes, she's a nice heterosexual lady married to a heterosexual man who fears god with lots of adopted children, no way could her relation be forced.
Me thinks the lady doth protested too much, my gaydar is also picking something up.

How many aristocrats did Thomas Pain behead? How many epic novels about sodomy and shit-eating did he write on toilet paper while in prison?
Small-time bourgeois revolutionary.

I firmly disagree. He played a role in two revolutions. His work "Agrarian Justice" was years ahead of its time in my opinion. He, himself was ahead of his time. He was for women's rights and wanted to give them the right to vote, he was a firm abolitionist. Age of Reason is still a great critique of organized religion. Paine was one of the few bourgeois revolutionaries who stood with the people. I consider those things much more important than a body count.

Marquis de Sade was more hardcore and knew how to party better is what I'm trying to say. Liberalism is lame now, but we'll always be able to offend people with S&M.

This is kind of off topic, but I have to say this is the only forum where Chomsky and Zinn are called liberals. That includes libcom.org, they are radicals and all of them I've seen consider Chomsky to be a legitimate anarchist. Just something I found odd about Revleft.

I'd consider it an insult to anarchists everywhere to call him one, and I'm a Marxist.

This is the only site I've seen where anarchists hold that sentiment. The anarchists over on libcom.org don't view him as a liberal. I'm not saying it is anything bad about Revleft, but it is kind of odd.

No, Chomsky is not. He claims to be, but he doesn't really understand anarchism, socialism, or leftism in general honestly. I mean, I give Chomsky great credit for his writings on the media and American imperialism (these writings are outstanding in my opinion) but his writings and works on socialism and leftism are weak at best.
Again, off topic though.

Surely lack of understanding shouldn't preclude someone from being a certain tendency?
I mean, for better or worse Chomsky (and certainly Zinn!) have an intense understanding of philosophy and politics, yet because they 'don't really understand' leftism in general they are called liberals. However, people on here who do little other than go 'NORTH KOREA ANTI-IMPERIALISM BLAH BLAH' are accepted as genuine leftists.
This attitude baffles me. It's like this narcissistic search for ideological purity which in the end only ends up degrading and destroying our ideology and movement.
